Can
you program emergency telephones to call 911? |
 |
Your
emergency telephone can be programed to automatically dial 911
to dispatch emergency personnel 24/7 however they are unable
to dispatch maintenance personnel or contact property managers
when non-emergency calls occur. Many 911 dispatch center have
discouraged programing emergency telephones to 911 as they do
not want these calls tying up emergency telephone lines and
dispatchers who answer non-emergency calls or pranks. Programing
telephones to a 911 center can be costly as fines may be imposed
if police or fire respond to non emergency and prank calls.
If emergency personnel are dispatched to non-emergency calls
the cost of a fine can range from $800.00 to $2,500.00. An example
of a common non-emergency nuisance call is when someone activates
the emergency telephone and walks away. The 911 service is unable
to get a response and do not have contact information for building
personnel so they must dispatch help to that location. To
avoid the potential of a costly fine we
recommend all emergency pool telephones be programing to our
24 hour answering service. |

|
|
 |
Can
I have my emergency telephone programed to call my office? |
 |
If
you have your emergency telephone(s) programed to an office
telephone it is critical the person answering the call understand
the code requirements and are they able to identify the emergency
location and know how to respond to the call? If the person
answering the call hangs up without responding with the emergency
location to the caller and asking if they are able to respond
you may fail the emergency inspection. This can be a costly
mistake and a improperly trained staff can significantly increase
your liability exposure. For this reason we ask all of our customer
if they can afford a mistake by your staff in handling an emergency
call?
|
|
|
 |
I
am currently paying for a dedicated phone line for my emergency
phone, How can you eliminate this cost?
|
 |
Yes,
We can eliminate the cost of dedicated emergency phone lines
by
installing a line seizure device that allows your emergency
telephone to share a line with another telephone device. When
a call is place on the emergency telephone the line seizure
device will takes control of an existing phone line to place
the emergency call. Once the call is completed the line is turned
back over to the other telephone device. The average savings
of eliminating a dedicated phone line is over $350.00 year.
